In order to facilitate citation metrics and publication tracking using Web of Science tools, Web of Science enables authors to create a profile that allows others to learn more about their work and affiliations. The process of creating a unique digital author identifier is simple and registration is free. Establishing a unique researcher identifier ensures that one's work will be properly identified and linked to the right individual. The Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) is a non-profit supported platform for establishing a unique digital identifier. The ORCID can be linked to Web of Science ResearcherID.
