Overview

The Mental Measurements Yearbooks (MMY) contain reviews of tests covering personality, aptitude, psychology, intelligence, speech and hearing, sensory motor abilities and other related areas. Test information includes the author, publisher, scoring information, and references to critical reviews of the test.

To be included in an edition of MMY,  "a test must be commercially available, be published in the English language, and be new or revised since it last appeared in the MMY series" (EBSCOhost).

Tests in Print (TIP) serves as a comprehensive bibliography to all known commercially available tests that are in print in the English language. TIP provides vital information to users including test purpose, test publisher, in-print status, price, test acronym, intended test population (e.g., age, grade level, gender, behavioral characteristics, etc.), administration type (e.g., group or individual), publication date(s), and test author(s).

The Mental Measurements Yearbook with Tests in Print database, provided by EBSCOhost, combines these two print sources into a searchable database. The database coverage begins with the 9th edition (1985) of the yearbook.

This database does not contain actual test copies or instruments. If you are looking for an actual test, try searching in the PsycTESTS database.

*Note: You must be connected to Stetson's Network in order to access Mental Measurements Yearbook with Tests in Print or any of the Library's subscription databases. If you are not working from a campus-connected computer, please see instructions for Library Access Off Campus.

The Mental Measurements Yearbook with Tests in Print database opens to the Advanced Search screen.

Advanced Search allows you to specify search fields for your keywords. For example, if you wanted to find test reviews for the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory test (MMPI), you can type "MMPI" in the search box and select "Acronym - AC" from the All fields drop down menu to retrieve reviews related to this particular test.

You can also conduct field searches by test name (e.g. Multiphasic Personality Inventory Test), author (e.g. Stein, Stephanie), population (e.g. ages 14-18), publisher (e.g. University of Minnesota), test category (e.g. personality, achievement, etc.), or yearbook volume number this way.

The Filters tab (which is located under the +Add fields button), gives you even more options to filter results by test categorypublication yearlanguageauthortitle, or yearbook volume number. The Search options tab provides options for search modes and expanders; to learn more, visit EBSCOhost's guides on Search Modes and Expanders.

Click the blue "Search" button to conduct your search in the database and view the results list.

Results List

After conducting your search, a list of database records will populate. Records in the database are automatically listed by their relevance to your keywords. You also have the option to sort results by date newest or date oldest.

Additional filters can be applied from the results list after conducting your initial search by navigating to the All filters button (underneath the search box).

To view the detailed record of a test review, click on the title of the review (in blue text).

Once you open the detailed record, you'll see a button underneath the title labeled Access now (online full text). Clicking this will take you to an online reader (no download necessary) and give you access to the full text of the test review.

You'll also see several options in the top right-hand corner to Save, CiteShare, Add to project, or Download the test review. To utilize the Add to project feature, you must have a MyEBSCO account. It is free to create an account and instructions can be found here.

*Note: This database's Cite tool is not useful for citing test reviews; please see the Citing Test Reviews and More tab of this guide to learn how to manually create citations for test reviews.

Additional information about the selected test review can be found by scrolling down and viewing the entire detailed record. Information such as publisher information for the test/yearbook volume, population, scoring rubric, test taking time, price data, and cross references is available for each test review.
