Step 1. To access past issues of the New York Times, click the "Journals List" tab at on the library's homepage and search for "New York Times".
Step 2. From the results list, select the ProQuest Historical Newspapers link to access historical New York Times content. Pay close attention to the years covered in each database listed below. For example, ProQuest Historical Newspapers contains older content while ProQuest Newstand contains content since 1980.
Step 3. Once you access your desired database, use keywords to search for articles on your topic. Make sure to use terminology that would have been used during the time the article was published. For example, you could search for "Native American" but you should also try using the term, "Indian".
