Want to share an Apple Music playlist? Just know that those with whom you share will need an Apple Music subscription to listen to it. If that person uses Spotify instead, instructions are included below as to how you can transfer the playlist to Spotify and share it that way.
Share Playlists on iPhone and iPad:
- Open the Apple Music app, tap the Library icon at the bottom of the screen, and then select Playlists. If you don't see a Share Playlists button, that means you haven’t set up an Apple Music Profile. (instructions follow below)
- The share Sheet will pop up with various options to share your playlist. Tap Copy for a link to the playlist, or select from the various available apps to share via text message, email, or another messaging app.
Can't see the Share button? Until you have an Apple Music profile, you won't be able to share any of your playlists. Another reason why you might not see the Share button is that you haven't merged your local music library with Apple's Cloud Music Library.
- To create an Apple Music profile, open the Apple Music app on your iPhone or iPad, then tap the "Listen Now" tab in the bottom-left of the screen. Tap the icon in the top right section of this screen.
- If you've already set up an Apple Music profile, you'll see it here. If you haven't created your profile, you'll see a prompt here labeled "Set up Profile." Tap it to continue.
- The app will guide you through the rest of the profile creation. You'll choose a username, help others find you, and follow your friends.
- If you need to create your Apple Music profile on a Mac or PC, instructions are in the next section.

Move playlists from Apple Music to Spotify:
Doing so requires a third-party tool, Tune My Music. Using the free tier means you can transfer up to 1,000 songs for free.
- Point a browser window to Tune My Music and select "Let's Start" on the home page.
- Select the source service: In this case, Apple Music. A pop-up will ask you to connect your Apple Music account with Tune My Music. Enter your Apple Music credentials (Apple ID email address and password), and sign in.
- Apple will ask you to confirm you want to allow Tune My Music to access your Apple Music library. Click "Allow."
- Once Tune My Music has access to your Apple Music library, it will show you all the playlists in your account. Scroll to Playlists section and uncheck the playlists you don't want to transfer.
- Tap "Next: Select Destination."
- Select "Spotify" from the list of music streaming services. Another pop-up will ask you to sign into your Spotify account. Tap agree to proceed.
P.S. You can also use this tool to share a Spotify playlist with Apple Music!
