Training as a composer at Stetson University includes a unique mix of classes not available at any other university in the country, with private lessons in composition during all four years of study and upper-division courses in counterpoint, orchestration and technology. Use advanced search to combine genre and artist, etc. It is also possible to browse lists of composers' and artists' works. You can create playlists for yourself, and faculty members can create playlists for courses. Use permanent URL to send links by email or post to Blackboard. Brief biographies of many composers and other reference information are included. Many pieces are offered in multiple versions. World music content is provided by ARC, Celestial Harmonies and others.
Includes more than 125,000 CDs and more than 1,900,00 individual tracks, representing more than 1,000 composers. May be searched by period, nationality of the composer, year of composition or first performance, instrument, category, featured instrument or a combination of these. Browse by composer or by composer and category combined. Most recordings include their own scholarly notes which may be viewed while listening. The music is streamed in 64K, i.e., in near-CD quality and is also available in 128K for LAN or broadband connections for CD quality. For off-campus listening, a 20K service is also available for users who do not have access to broadband.
