HDMI

HDMI or High-Definition Multimedia Interface adapters are used for the simultaneously transmission of audio and digital video from one source to another. Example:  This type of adapter would be used to send video from a laptop to projector if both devices have applicable ports.

HDMI cables can come in three different sizes, but most desktops and laptops have a standard size (Type A) input.

standard HDMI input on laptop

Standard /Full-size / Type A  (approx 4.5 mm in height) - used with most laptops, desktop computers, tvs, projectors and other popular devices

Mini / Type C(approx 2.4mm in height) - used mainly with digital camcorders and video recorders; or small computing devices (Raspberry Pi Zero).

Micro / Type D (approx 2.8mm in height, but nearly half the length of other sizes) - least common HDMI cable, but can be found with smaller digital recorders, GoPro or portable media players.
