Best Bet Databases for Your Research

The following Databases are considered "Best Bets" for finding articles for your research. The "Locating Articles" tab to the left also has links to Art and Art History databases.

Academic Search Complete
A broad, general full-text database that includes both popular and scholarly periodicals. It covers virtually all academic areas of study, including social sciences, sciences, and humanities.
ARTstor
A digital image library of collections of art, architecture, humanities, and science images with descriptive information.
Bibliography of the History of Art (BHA) and RILA
European and American visual arts material published between 1975 and 2007 covering late antiquity to the present.
JSTOR
An archive of scholarly journals. Content spans many disciplines, primarily in the humanities and social sciences. The most recent 3-5 years of journals are generally not available. JSTOR has a number of other collections to which we do not subscribe. Provided through a cooperative agreement with Stetson's College of Law Library.
Oxford Art Online
Encyclopedia entries, biographies, and bibliographies on art topics.
ProQuest Research
A multidisciplinary database with full-text articles in the arts, business, health, medicine, history, science, technology, social sciences. Includes scholarly articles, professional publication, and magazines.
Gale OneFile: Fine Arts
Access to scholarly journals and magazines that support research in areas including drama, music, art history, and film making.

Art books in the Library

The Library has an extensive collection of art books in hardcopy and e-book editions, as well as a number of videos on Art, Art History and related subjects. More than 10,000 hardcopy art books are shelved on the main floor, north side of the Library. More than 3,000 art-related e-books are listed in the Library's Catalog.
