Library Services for Graduate Students

The duPont-Ball Library offers many services for graduate students.

Off-campus access

The Library offers a host of off-campus resources.

Library Materials by Mail

Shipping library materials. The library will ship library owned physical materials to the home address of students enrolled in online programs. Please make a note on the Hold form that you would like the item to be shipped to you and provide an address. The library will confirm that you are enrolled in an online program prior to shipping items.

Unfortunately, the library is unable to ship Interlibrary Loan (ILL) books, DVDS, or other physical items to people’s homes. Most ILL items have a 6 week borrowing period that starts when the item is packaged at the lending library and ends when the item is due back to the duPont-Ball Library. The short time frame does not allow for the library to receive the item and ship it to your home address.

Suggest a purchase. The library can purchase books and other materials that you need. Please be aware that it will take some time for the item to be purchased, shipped to the library, cataloged and processed, and shipped to an address. In general, the library only purchases required reading when faculty members provide us with lists of titles they are assigning. We typically purchase one copy for the library.

Using local libraries. In addition to the materials available at the duPont-Ball Library, consider using the resources of your local library. Public libraries may have fewer academic titles but they often have a rich collection of literary and popular titles that can extend the content to which you have access.

A note about eBooks. Please understand that some titles do not have an eBook version available for purchase. When an eBook is available, the library needs time to purchase, catalog, and process the title. Most eBooks are limited to 1 user at a time with the option to pay more for a multi-user or unlimited user license. The library purchases multi-user licenses when possible.
