The most frequently used citation styles are listed below.  If no guide is listed for your discipline, check with your instructor to see which style you should use. Whatever style you choose, be sure to use it consistently within a document - do not mix styles within one document.

MLA is used most often in language and literature classes and other disciplines in the humanities.

Chicago style is used a wide range of disciplines in the social sciences and humanities

APA style is used in the social sciences and business.

Turabian style is a version of Chicago style created for students writing research papers.
