Alert Services for Publishers and Databases

JournalTOCs is a "free collection of scholarly journal Tables of Contents (TOCs)." This collection features 26,173 journals from 3,359 publishers, including Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, Oxford University Press, and more. JournalTOCs "alerts you when new issues of your Followed journals are published" and tells you which journals are open access (OA), hybrid, or restricted use.

This free-to-use alert service scans the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) Medline database (aka PubMed) as well as the GenBank database daily for new content. Users can create a free account with PubCrawler and be notified when work is published that matches their chosen keywords, authors, institutions, and more.

Science.gov is managed by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Scientific and Technical Information. They issue alerts for any "scientific and technical reports, peer-reviewed scholarly publications, e.g., accepted manuscripts and journal articles, digital data, software, conference presentations and proceedings, and other scientific and technical information that federal agencies publish as a result of their research investments."
